Multistage-batch bipolar membrane electrodialysis for base production from high-salinity wastewater

摘要: Bipolar membrane electrodialysis (BMED) is considered a state-of-the-art technology for the conversion of salts into acids and bases. However, the low concentration of base generated from a traditional BMED process may limit the viability of this technology for a large-scale application. Herein, we report an especially designed multistage-batch (two/three-stage-batch) BMED process to increase the base concentration by adjusting different volume ratios in the acid (Vacid), base (Vbase), and salt compartments (Vsalt). The findings indicated that performance of the two-stage-batch with a volume ratio of Vacid:Vbase:Vsalt = 1:1:5 was superior in comparison to the three-stage-batch with a volume ratio of Vacid:Vbase:Vsalt = 1:1:2. Besides, the base concentration could be further increased by exchanging the acid produced in the acid compartment with fresh water in the second stage-batch process. With the two-stage-batch BMED, the maximum concentration of the base can be obtained up to 3.40 mol∙L–1, which was higher than the most reported base production by BMED. The low energy consumption and high current efficiency further authenticate that the designed process is reliable, cost-effective, and more productive to convert saline water into valuable industrial commodities.

Achieving food security and high production of bioenergy crops through intercropping with efficient resource

摘要: With high rates of food and nonrenewable fossil fuel consumption worldwide, we are facing great challenges in ensuring food and energy security to satisfy the world population. Intercropping, as an important and sustainable cropping practice in agroecosystems, has been widely practiced around the world. Many studies have shown that some plants can deliver high yields when intercropped with other plants. Here, we review the biological mechanisms in improving resource utilization efficiency and illustrate the practical application of intercropping in ensuring food and energy security through improving production. Identifying suitable energy plants for marginal land, land not suitable for food crops growth, is an effective strategy to acquire high production of bioenergy, thus removing competition between the use of land for food and energy. The effective application of intercropping provides a potential pathway for production of food crops and energy plants by improving resource use efficiency and resistance to environmental stress.

growth of a-few-layered MoS on CdS nanorod for high efficient photocatalytic H production

摘要: An ultrathin MoS2 was grown on CdS nanorod by a solid state method using sulfur powder as sulfur source for photocatalytic H2 production. The characterization result reveals that the ultrathin MoS2 nanosheets loaded on CdS has a good contact state. The photoelectrochemical result shows that MoS2 not only are beneficial for charge separation, but also works as active sites, thus enhancing photocatalytic activity. Compared with pure CdS, the photocatalytic activity of MoS2 loaded CdS was significantly improved. The hydrogen evolution rate on m(MoS2): m(CdS) = 1: 50 (m is mass) reaches 542 μmol/h, which is 6 times of that on pure CdS (92 μmol/h). This work provides a new design for photocatalysts with high photocatalytic activities and provides a deeper understanding of the effect of MoS2 on enhancing photocatalytic activity.

Direct ethanol production from rice straw by coculture with two high-performing fungi

摘要: To develop efficient and economical direct ethanol production from fine rice straw crashed mechanically, two high-performing fungi, which can secret hyperactive cellulases and/or ferment effectively various sugars, were selected from some strains belong to preserved in our laboratory. The simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) by coculture with these fungi was investigated. The screening of high-performing fungi resulted in the selection of NBRC 4572 as an ethanol-producing fungus and NBRC 5398 as a cellulase-secreting fungus. The strain 4572 produced ethanol aerobically from glucose and xylose in high yields of 0.420 g/g at 36 h and 0.478 g/g at 60 h, respectively, but secreted fairly low cellulases. On the other hand, the strain 5398 also produced ethanol from glucose in yield of 0.340 g/g though it had a little growth in xylose culture. However, it secreted hyperactive cellulases that are essential for hydrolysis of rice straw in culture and the maximum activities of endo-β-glucanase and β-glucosidase were 2.11 U/L and 1.47 U/L, respectively. In SSF of rice straw by coculture with two fungi selected, the ethanol production reached 1.28 g/L after 96 h when the inoculation ratio of the strain 5398 to the strain 4572 was 9.

High production of butyric acid by

摘要: The objective of this study was to improve the production of butyric acid by process optimization using the metabolically engineered mutant of (PAK-Em). First, the free-cell fermentation at pH 6.0 produced butyric acid with concentration of 38.44 g/L and yield of 0.42 g/g. Second, the immobilized-cell fermentations using fibrous-bed bioreactor (FBB) were run at pHs of 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5 and 7.0 to optimize fermentation process and improve the butyric acid production. It was found that the highest titer of butyric acid, 63.02 g/L, was achieved at pH 6.5. Finally, the metabolic flux balance analysis was performed to investigate the carbon rebalance in . The results show both gene manipulation and fermentation pH change redistribute carbon between biomass, acetic acid and butyric acid. This study demonstrated that high butyric acid production could be obtained by integrating metabolic engineering and fermentation process optimization.

高压高产含硫气井测试技术及应用

摘要:

川东北海相气藏埋藏深、温度压力高、普遍含硫、平面及纵向产量变化大,测试工艺复杂,面临井下工具受限、井下事故复杂、井控及环境污染风险大等难题。在川东北高含硫气井测试实践与经验基础上,形成了高压高产含硫气井测试技术。形成了三类六套APR射孔—酸压—测试联作短期测试管柱;管柱力学分析、多级压力控制、国产抗硫及复合地面流程等测试配套工艺满足各类测试要求;以压井、防喷、防漏为主的测试应急方案及措施确保了作业安全。该技术在YB1-侧1,YB12,HB1-1D等井中成功应用,为该类气田勘探开发的顺利进行提供了技术支撑。

Simultaneous saccharification and fermentation of sweet potato powder for the production of ethanol underconditions of very high gravity

摘要: Due to its merits of drought tolerance and high yield, sweet potatoes are widely considered as a potential alterative feedstock for bioethanol production. Very high gravity (VHG) technology is an effective strategy for improving the efficiency of ethanol fermentation from starch materials. However, this technology has rarely been applied to sweet potatoes because of the high viscosity of their liquid mash. To overcome this problem, cellulase was added to reduce the high viscosity, and the optimal dosage and treatment time were 8 U/g (sweet potato powder) and 1 h, respectively. After pretreatment by cellulase, the viscosity of the VHG sweet potato mash (containing 284.2 g/L of carbohydrates) was reduced by 81%. After liquefaction and simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF), the final ethanol concentration reached 15.5% (v/v), and the total sugar conversion and ethanol yields were 96.5% and 87.8%, respectively.

High butanol production by regulating carbon, redox and energy in Clostridia? ?

摘要: Butanol is a promising biofuel with high energy intensity and can be used as gasoline substitute. It can be produced as a sustainable energy by microorganisms (such as Clostridia) from low-value biomass. However, the low productivity, yield and selectivity in butanol fermentation are still big challenges due to the lack of an efficient butanol-producing host strain. In this article, we systematically review the host cell engineering of Clostridia, focusing on (1) various strategies to rebalance metabolic flux to achieve a high butanol production by regulating the metabolism of carbon, redox or energy, (2) the challenges in pathway manipulation, and (3) the application of proteomics technology to understand the intracellular metabolism. In addition, the process engineering is also briefly described. The objective of this review is to summarize the previous research achievements in the metabolic engineering of and provide guidance for future novel strain construction to effectively produce butanol.

Experimental investigation and feasibility analysis of a thermophotovoltaic cogeneration system in high-temperatureproduction processes

摘要: The experimental - characteristics of a Si cell module in a thermophotovoltaic (TPV) system were investigated using SiC or Yb O radiator. The results demonstrate that the short-circuit current increases while the open-circuit voltage, along with the fill factor, decreases with the cell temperature when the radiator temperature increases from 1273 to 1573 K, leading to a suppressed increase of the output power of the system. The maximum output power density of the cell module is 0.05 W/cm when the temperature of the SiC radiator is 1573 K, while the electrical efficiency of the system is only 0.22%. The efficiency is 1.3% with a Yb O radiator at the same temperature, however, the maximum output power density drops to 0.03 W/cm . The values of the open-circuit voltage and the maximum output power obtained from the theoretical model conform to the experimental ones. But the theoretical short-circuit current is higher because of the existence of the contact resistance inside the cell module. In addition, the performance and cost of TPV cogeneration systems with the SiC or Yb O radiator using industrial high-temperature waste heat were analyzed. The system electrical efficiency could reach 3.1% with a Yb O radiator at 1573 K. The system cost and investment recovery period are 6732 EUR/kWel and 14 years, respectively.

中国高温气冷堆制氢发展战略研究

摘要:

核能制氢是一种有应用前景的高效、大规模、无排放的制氢技术,有望在氢气大规模集中供应的场景中起到重要作用。高温气冷堆是最适于核能制氢的堆型,在我国已有几十年的研发基础,目前正在国家科技重大专项支持下建造高温气冷堆示范电站。本文介绍了核能制氢技术的特点和主流的核能制氢工艺包括热化学碘硫循环、混合硫循环和高温蒸汽电解的原理,对国际上核能制氢技术发展现状进行了简要综述,并概述了清华大学在该领域的研发现状。此外对核能制氢的安全性、技术经济评价等问题进行了讨论,在此基础上对与高温气冷堆耦合的制氢技术进行了评价,并以氢气直接还原炼铁为例探讨了高温气冷堆制氢在工业领域的应用前景。最后对我国高温气冷堆制氢技术的发展路线进行了探讨。
